Community and Culture

At Arlington Animal Clinic, caring for animals is more than a profession. It's a shared passion rooted in community and compassion.

Our Doctors
Dr. Mike Deutsch
Dr. Mike graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Before opening Arlington Animal Clinic, he owned The Zoo Animal Hospital in Edgewood, New Mexico, and later served six years as an Associate Veterinarian at Normandy Boulevard Animal Hospital in Jacksonville. When he's not caring for pets, Dr. Mike enjoys visiting local dog parks with his four dogs, Linus, Mattie, Schnitzel, and Simon, along with nature photography and traveling with his wife.
Dr. An Nguyen
A Florida native from Rockledge, Dr. Nguyen earned both his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from the University of Florida. His professional interests include microbiology, and he serves as an associate editor for infectious diseases and immunology for the Veterinary Information Network. Dr. Nguyen is the former owner of Arlington Animal Clinic and remains dedicated to delivering exceptional veterinary care to the Jacksonville community.
Why Jacksonville, Florida
Jacksonville's unique blend of urban energy and coastal charm makes it a wonderful place to live and work. With miles of dog-friendly beaches, scenic riverwalks, and an active outdoor lifestyle, the city is perfect for pet lovers. Dr. Deutsch and Dr. Nguyen chose Jacksonville because of its welcoming neighborhoods, strong sense of community, and the opportunity to help pets and their people thrive in a vibrant, pet-friendly environment.

Giving Back
Our doctors believe that caring for animals means caring for the people who love them.

The Street Dog Coalition
When time allows, Dr. Nguyen volunteers with The Street Dog Coalition, a national nonprofit providing free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness. Through pop-up street clinics and a "One Health" approach, the coalition supports both ends of the leash, offering compassionate, judgment-free care and strengthening the human–animal bond.

Ayla's Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue
Both Dr. Deutsch and Dr. Nguyen also provide veterinary care for Ayla's Acres, a St. Augustine-based no-kill rescue. Ayla's Acres saves and rehomes abandoned and abused animals across Northeast and North Central Florida, maintains a 45-acre sanctuary for those who cannot be adopted, and educates the public on responsible pet ownership.
